Global Power and Energy Exhibition 2018 partners with AT Kearney

Global Power and Energy Exhibition 2018

The Global Power and Energy Exhibition 2018 has announced a strategic knowledge partnership with AT Kearney ahead of the event in September.

With 50 high-level speakers, the Global Power and Energy Exhibition 2018 (GPEX) aims to serve as a powerful platform for energy companies, public sector institutes, and key professionals to connect and discuss and develop strategies for the energy transition.

AT Kearney is a global management consulting firm which manages the AT Kearney Energy Transition Institute, a non-profit organisation which advises and provides insight into global trends in energy transition technologies, and helps private sector businesses and public sector institutions to manage the transition.

What will the strategic partnership involve?

The commitments made as part of the Paris Climate Agreement to combat climate change mean that countries will need to manage significant reductions in greenhouse gas emissions. This has driven many stakeholders in energy to explore technological solutions.

Following on from these efforts, GPEX and AT Kearney will partner on a research project which will explore the perspectives of energy professionals on opportunities that digitisation will bring to the energy transition. The results of this study will then be shared at the event, offering insights to provide a foundation for discussion.

What have the partners said about the project?

Richard Forrest, chair of the AT Kearney Energy Transition Institute, said that the partnership project was necessary to try to anticipate developments in the global energy transition, and would aid long term strategies for managing the integration of new technologies into existing energy systems.

He explained: “The accelerating energy transition, coupled with electrification and digitalisation, will fundamentally disrupt the energy value chain across the world. Technological advances will drive cost-effective alternative sources of energy, altering supply dynamics of the market and electrification will significantly alter the distribution, trade and use of energy.”

Stewart Bundock, event director at Global Power and Energy Exhibition 2018’s organiser, dmg events, said that the project would help with the event’s aim to provide vital guidance to stakeholders in the energy industry.

He concluded: “Our aim is to provide leaders from the energy value network with up-to-date information to support them in making informed decisions about the future of their businesses; and to discuss and evaluate projects, processes, successes and challenges within the global energy transition. Our partnership with AT Kearney will enable us to achieve these objectives, so we are delighted to be working so closely with their team of leading energy advisers.”
