Thales has upgraded the full flight and mission simulators (FFMS) AS532, Super-Puma transport helicopters and multi-purpose twin-engine EC635 military helicopter for Switzerland’s Air Force.
The standardisation of the FFMS AS532 Super-Puma included the modernisation of the avionics system, radio communications, digital map, forward-looking infrared imagery, and the visualisation helmet.
Upgraded works on the EC635 helicopter simulator involved improvements carried out on the instructor operating station (IOS).
Swiss federal agency armasuisse programme manager Yanik Varley said: “We are very satisfied with the upgrades and new functionalities introduced by Thales to our full flight simulators.
“Our pilots can now train in a virtual environment that matches the real helicopter that they are currently flying.”
After meeting all the requirements, the entire range of upgrades and functional enhancements were delivered on schedule to the Swiss Air Force in September this year.
The simulators are designed to meet the specific training requirements of the pilots while enhancing crew competency, operational effectiveness, and operator safety.
To date, the company has delivered more than 110 helicopter simulators to customers in 25 countries across the globe.
