TISPOL launches European Day Without A Road Death resource library

The European Traffic Police Network (TISPOL) has launched a new resource library ahead of the 2018 European Day Without A Road Death, also known as Project EDWARD.

Project EDWARD was launched in 2016 and seeks to spearhead a significant and sustained reduction in the number of deaths and serious injuries each year on roads around the world, supported by public and private sector stakeholders, and drivers from across the globe. This year, the European Day Without A Road Death will be held on Wednesday 19 September.

To support the initiative, TISPOL has launched a resources library, which will provide materials to help supporters of the cause to spread the word, organise awareness events and share the central safety messages that the day of action aims to promote. Access to the library is free and open to anyone. If you would like to access the library, please visit and register your details at https://projectedward.eu/2018resources/.

What type of materials does the resource library offer?

Among the resources available in the library are road safety messages which supporters of Project EDWARD can post to Twitter, once per day from 1-19 September as part of a co-ordinated social media campaign, raising awareness and advocating for change. These messages are accompanied by guidelines which offer helpful advice on how users can make their social media interactions work best for the project by using #ProjectEDWARD on Twitter.

Readers around Europe are welcome to translate Project EDWARD’s messages calling for greater efforts to prevent road deaths and injuries into their own language, to maximise the global impact of the campaign.

In addition, the library includes assets such as the Project EDWARD logo, flyers, posters and banners, as well as guidelines on how they can be used. The website also provides guidelines for campaigners wishing to record and publish video messages supporting the initiative, and A4-size banners which users can print and hold during their recordings. Finally, the library is regularly updated with press releases, sharing the latest news and information from the campaign.
